Congratulations to Tom and James for their recent publication in [Science](https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adp5015)! After discovering unexpected quasiparticle fluctuations in a graphene-based quantum Hall interferometer, they leveraged this observation to measure the exchange statistics of charge e/3 anyons with unprecedented accuracy. By demonstrating that a phenomenon previously thought detrimental to interferometry experiments can instead be used as a powerful tool, this work has unlocked a new means to measure quasiparticle braiding while also shining a light on the dynamics of quantum Hall systems.
